SUMMARY
Adventure in the hometown of the Ruhr district, Anno Domini 2010
Audio-visual performing arts project
- a view of the cultural capital 2010 with a commentary from one man's perspective
A recording device with a highly sensitive microphone, an SLR camera, a note book and a pen are the "old-fashioned" tools Rolf Dennemann and his team use as they move through the Ruhr district throughout 201 recording their view of "all the things you see and hear". The project aims to document, reflect, view and review the time after the Ruhr's stint as home to the cultural capital. A stage and radio play will be produced and presented with supporting photography, computers and narrative on stages throughout the region.
In the final quarter of the year, the results will be presented to the public at various locations throughout the Ruhr district, including the Theater im Grend (Essen) and the Theater im Depot (Dortmund).
The archaic form of narration on stage before an audience will be enriched with "old-fashioned" media and modern computer technology.
Interviews, live recording and fiction, musical collages and typical sounds from the area exemplify some of the activities brought to us in 2010. In addition, depending on location, we have guests from the worlds of dance, theatre and music, science, politics and the economy.
What remains, what is quickly forgotten, what can be forgotten, and what should be remembered? Voices and sounds from the rugged parts of the city, the cultural centres and marketplaces to the stages and cafes, trains and zoos, garages and shopping centres, to plays and concerts, halls and foyers.
A collection of images and audio material, anecdotes and reports across the year offer a glance of the residents of the region and their state of affairs. Humour and "speak bitterness" are not excluded. |
